Loire-Atlantique has a very important heritage - a consequence of its rich and turbulent History. Do not miss the castle of the Dukes of Brittany or Saint-Pierre and Saint-Paul cathedral in Nantes. Go visit Guérande on the coastline - it is famous for its salt and medieval fortress. Domaine de Bréhadour **** awaits you in the city it self. Browse the great campsites of Pornichet too !
You'll find plenty to do and see while you're staying in Loire-Atlantique. North of Saint-Nazaire for instance is nature park of Brière - hiking, bird watching, adventure parks and lovely restaurants can fill in your schedule. Next to it, camping Les Forges *** can be a perfect base for nature-themed holidays, only 3 kms from the sea.
Located in the south west of the department, La Baule is a pleasant seaside resort. Sports, SPA, culture - plenty to do and see there too.
More to the south, spend a day in Pornic. It is a lesser known destination that deserves your attention and visit. It has a great historical heritage you can discover staying at camping le Patisseau **** for instance.
