Camping de la Piscine: ideal for family holidays in the heart of the Brittany Riviera

A peaceful arrival in lush green surroundings

As a family with our 6- and 10-year-old children, we chose to stay at Camping de la Piscine in a modern mobile home with a covered terrace.

The campsite grounds are very wooded and our semi-shaded spot was perfect for those very sunny days. From the very first morning, we had breakfast on the terrace to the sounds of nature: you immediately feel like you’re on holiday.

The campsite is located about 1.5 km from the beaches, accessible on foot via well-maintained paths or easily by car thanks to the car parks near the coast.

We really appreciated being set back slightly from the coast, which allowed us to enjoy a very peaceful setting whilst still being close to the sea.

Every morning in July, fresh bread and pastries were available right at the campsite. A real treat to start the day in a relaxed way.

After exploring the estate, the children immediately took to the water park.

Between the slides, the pentagliss, the paddling pool and the water games, they could have spent the whole day there.

From the top of the 10-metre-high slide, you can even see the Glénan Islands in the distance. A completely unexpected and magnificent view.

Below the campsite, a small pond with ducks has also become one of our favourite spots.

Beginners’ fishing is allowed there, provided you release the fish afterwards. Very quickly, this little stroll became our evening family ritual.

The reception staff advised us to hire bikes directly on site, which we did so we could set off to explore the surrounding area.

A lovely day out on our bikes took us to the marshes behind the dunes, with several stops on the beaches and near a birdwatching hide.

We also discovered the Mer Blanche, an absolutely stunning spot with its very light-coloured sand and the incredible shades of blue in the water. The scenery seemed almost unreal.

We had an impromptu picnic there before quietly setting off again.

We could have carried on to Bénodet, but the children were desperate to go back and enjoy the swimming pool.

We eventually returned later in the week to stroll along the seafront and enjoy an ice cream at the famous Bankiz ice cream parlour.

One evening, we popped over to Beg Meil, just 3.5 km from the campsite, to watch the small fishing boats come in.

Some fishermen were selling their catch of the day right there in the harbour. Our daughter loved this authentic experience, and we bought some fish which we cooked on the barbecue that very evening.

On Friday morning, we also visited the market in Fouesnant, a must-see for picking up a few Breton specialities and tasty souvenirs.

The children also took part in the kids’ club for two mornings.

On the programme: craft activities, making a small souvenir and a treasure hunt around the campsite.

They also prepared a dance routine to be performed at the week’s dance evening, which they were looking forward to with great excitement.

Whilst the children were enjoying the kids’ club, the mornings remained particularly quiet at the campsite.

I took part in a relaxing aqua session whilst my husband went for a run down to the beach to start the day on an active note.

I also really enjoyed the little library at reception, where I borrowed several books by Breton authors to read at my leisure on the sun loungers by the pool.

The campsite’s snack bar serves simple, friendly meals.

On some evenings, themed meals are organised, such as burgers and chips or mussels and chips, much to the children’s delight.

Every week, a range of family activities are also on offer: bingo, music quizzes, karaoke or dance evenings, which finish around 11 pm to ensure the campsite remains peaceful.

Once a week, an outdoor evening show is also organised: magic, music or artistic performances.

Concarneau and the Walled Town

The reception staff recommended that we visit Concarneau and its famous walled town.

We loved walking along the ramparts, sampling a Breton crêpe and browsing the little shops in the historic centre. The little tourist train also made it easy for us to explore the town with the children

Pointe du Raz and the landscapes of Finistère

Our furthest excursion took us to Pointe du Raz, located about 70 km from the campsite.

This spectacular spot, often dubbed “the end of the world”, offers incredible views of the ocean.

We also explored part of the famous coastal path (GR34), particularly around Beg Meil.

Even without walking the full 7 km, the walk remains very accessible with children and allows you to discover magnificent coves and cliffs.

The beaches of Fouesnant and the Glénan archipelago

The beaches of Fouesnant made a particular impression on us: long stretches of white sand, small, wilder coves and water that is surprisingly crystal-clear when the sun is at its highest.

The children loved being able to swim whilst clearly seeing their feet in the clear water.

To round off our stay, we chose a boat trip to the Glénan archipelago.

With its turquoise waters and white sandbanks, this nature reserve is absolutely magnificent.

We were even lucky enough to spot a few dolphins during the crossing.

All in all, Camping de la Piscine proved to be an excellent base for exploring southern Finistère with the family.

Between the water park, the peaceful surroundings, the magnificent beaches and the many walks accessible by bike or on foot, we enjoyed a holiday that struck the perfect balance between relaxation and exploration.

A family-friendly campsite on a human scale, where you can enjoy both the Breton countryside and the simple pleasures of everyday life.
