Bicycles, surf, and sunsets: Our family vacation at Camping Saint Pabu

What we Loved most about the campsite

  • Prime Location: You enjoy direct access to the beach, located just 5 meters away, along with a stunning panoramic sea view that is visible from almost everywhere across the campsite.
  • Sporting Club: An all-inclusive concept where all activities and services are covered in the price of your stay, including the free loan of high-quality equipment such as electric and classic bikes, surfboards, paddleboards, kayaks, and all gear like helmets and wetsuits.
  • Endless Activities and Professional Entertainment: The holiday features children's and teens' clubs packed with treasure hunts, dance classes, and sports, alongside a variety of top-tier evening shows—including concerts, magic, cabarets, and sound-and-light pyrotechnic displays—performed by professional artists.
  • A Focus on Well-being: Guests can keep fit thanks to a year-round sports coach offering Tabata, fitness, and Pilates classes, a sleek indoor and outdoor fitness area equipped with Water Rowers, and the famous GR34 coastal trail running right past the campsite for morning jogs and family hikes.

Arriving at the Campsite

With our kids of 12 and 14

Our choice was anything but accidental. The previous year, some friends had stayed at this establishment and highly recommended it to us for its location, its sea views present almost everywhere in the campsite, and its all-inclusive activities. Upon our arrival, we found that our pitch was well-defined with large hedges, ensuring absolute privacy with no overlooking from neighbors.

The sanitary block was a wonderful surprise: brand new, modern, well-equipped, and air-conditioned, complete with pleasant background music playing while doing the dishes.

We stayed on-site for 15 days, and our 12 and 14-year-old teenagesr was absolutely thrilled to find free Wi-Fi access available everywhere across the campsite.

Feet in the water and the freedom of the "All-Inclusive" concept

The campsite is truly right on the water's edge, featuring direct access to the beach just 5 meters away. The campsite even lends out deckchairs, allowing us to set up comfortably on the sand and spend a good part of the day facing the sea. It was here that we experienced a major highlight of our stay: the Sporting Club formula in an "all-inclusive" package.

This was a first for us, something we had never seen before in a campsite. We absolutely loved this concept of activities and services included in the price of the stay: everything is provided, including helmets, wetsuits, snorkeling gear, and more. There were so many activities that we barely left the campsite at the beginning of our stay!

Throughout our holiday, we enjoyed activities such as snorkeling, paddleboarding, kayaking, longe-côte (sea wading), and bodyboarding completely free of charge. The children also took out surfboards and waited for a few waves. My husband and I borrowed electric bikes, while the children took classic bikes to explore the surrounding area—what a beautiful surprise to have nothing extra to pay.

Children's clubs, well-being, and tailored fitness

The children participated several times in the kids' club and, for the eldest, the teens' club. From treasure hunts and dance classes to various sports activities, they were able to vary their pleasures. They made friends during the holidays, which was absolutely ideal for them. Furthermore, the entertainers could speak English with the children so that they could participate fully in all activities.

While the children were at their clubs, my husband and I took the opportunity to keep fit. A sports coach is on-site all year round and offers Tabata, fitness, and Pilates classes. The fitness room itself features a very sleek decoration and is fully equipped with Water Rowers and a variety of machines to choose from, alongside a freely accessible outdoor area for weight training.

For relaxation, the indoor swimming pool is heated to 28°C and remains open all day from 7:00 AM to 10:30 PM, allowing us to enjoy it very early in the morning. A small spa area with massaging deckchairs and water jets under waterfalls provided the perfect spot to unwind while the children had fun in the water. There is always staff on-site to ensure our well-being and to keep the space peaceful and clean.

Local flavors and social life at The Superlounge

The Superlounge is a cozy coffee shop area open from morning to night. It is a warm space where you can enjoy breakfast on-site or take advantage of a snacking formula available on-site or to go—perfect for the picnics we improvised at the beach and around the campsite. It also features self-service games, billiards, and foosball to keep the family entertained.

This space was also the perfect solution for family evenings before attending the evening show, either inside the Superlounge or outdoors when the weather was nice. During the outdoor shows, we enjoyed a very charming "guinguette" atmosphere. Over the 15 days, we were able to watch several high-quality shows featuring professional artists, including concerts, magic, cabarets, and sound-and-light pyrotechnic displays. We were truly amazed, and we didn't even need to understand French to enjoy them!

Exploring the region and local traditions

The surrounding region is magnificent, and our days were filled with discovery. The GR34 coastal path passes right in front of the campsite, serving as a perfect trail for morning jogs and a very pleasant hiking path for the whole family along the coast. To organize our outings, we downloaded an application with all the tourist information to locate the local market days around the campsite, which took place every single day.

Twice a week, the campsite also hosts a night market featuring local artisans and regional products right on-site. This was perfect for purchasing fresh products in addition to what was available at the campsite's grocery store and clothing boutique, where I bought a few items to wear all summer long.

Our excursions allowed us to visit beautiful nearby towns:

  • The Port of Erquy: An authentic fishing village famous for its scallops (coquilles Saint-Jacques), boasting numerous restaurants serving this specialty. We also tried an excellent, typical local crêperie.
  • Pléneuf-Val-André: Visited on another day for its seaside resort side, offering a slightly more festive town atmosphere where we enjoyed a few cocktails on the seafront.
  • Saint-Malo: Even though it was a bit further from the campsite, we decided to take a day trip to this very famous fortified city located about an hour's drive away. It offered a great atmosphere, beautiful light, and a very enjoyable visit.

A gastronomic highlight to conclude the Journey

In the evenings, watching the magnificent sunsets while enjoying incredibly delicious Mövenpick ice cream tubs became a wonderful memory for the family. On one of those evenings, we booked a table at L'Effet Mer, the campsite's restaurant, which features local cuisine and a short menu. We tried the scallops and the andouillettes, both of which were excellent.

For unique experiences on-site, there is also a sand yachting (char à voile) and kitesurfing school directly within the campsite. My husband and I took a sand yachting lesson—an unusual and unforgettable experience.

This stay was a true immersion combining sport and serenity, where every detail—from waking up facing the ocean to surf, fitness, and sailing sessions—was designed for total fluidity. The freedom to have all the necessary equipment available without extra fees or constraints, combined with the exceptional quality of the infrastructure and entertainment, made it a truly successful family experience; we recommend this campsite without hesitation!
