We were able to go on many visits, all organized or recommended by the campsite, both as a group and completely independently. One day, we rented a green electric Méhari directly at the campsite to cruise around the area. On Thursday morning, we visited the Villié-Morgon market, then stopped at Chiroubles, where the view is simply breathtaking. We had lunch there at the restaurant La Terrasse du Beaujolais before stopping by the Moulin-à-Vent, very close to Chénas.
In the same spirit, we participated in an electric bike ride with our children in baby seats. We were accompanied by Stéphane, the owner, for a circuit of about 20 kilometers. It included plenty of pauses to observe the landscapes, filled with explanations to help us understand what we were seeing, along with a bit of history and a few smiling anecdotes. It didn't feel like a professional guide tour at all; it was just a natural and very pleasant moment.
Another great experience during our stay was a collective outing in a vintage van (combi) to visit a vineyard in Saint-Amour at Domaine de La Pirolette. We were welcomed by the winemaker, who taught us a lot about grape varieties, terroirs, and the winemaking process. Of course, there was a tasting, and we bought a few bottles to extend this good time once we returned home. On Saturday, we had one last big outing with Marie to the Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne market—a magnificent market set under a medieval covered hall, full of life, colors, and local products.
