Great stay!
Review of the campsite
We had a fab stay at Camping Valmarie at the end of August. Our lodge/caravan was immaculate, we really couldn't fault it. The site itself was great, the shop was very good, staff very helpful! The pool/slides/snack bar were also great! As a family of 4 (kids 5 & 8) we had a great time. THe beach (Racou) is very close by and a lovely beach. Also a 15 minute walk to the port and an added 15 minutes to Argele Plage or very doable with both our kids!
I honestly can't think of any improvements we would have for the site, maybe some entertainment on site at night? This didn't really bother us at the time as we tended to walk to the port or into Argele but maybe would have stayed on site of an evening if there were entertainment.

A spectacular haven of peace: our family stay at Camping Le Bois de Valmarie
Discovering Le Bois de Valmarie
A campsite located in Argelès-sur-Mer, just 50 meters from Le Racou beach, a traditional former fishing village typical of the Côte Vermeille.
An establishment integrated into a lush, natural environment, with accommodations offering panoramic terraces and sea views.
A water park situated on high ground with spectacular views of the Mediterranean and the mountains, featuring waterslides, a multi-lane slide, and a fun lagoon.
A quiet and rejuvenating campsite with a kids' club, a wellness area (spa, sauna, hammam), and sports activities such as aqua aerobics or aquabike.
An ideal location for discovering the Côte Vermeille: hikes along the coastal path toward Collioure, excursions to the Anse de Paulilles, and a visit to Château de Valmy.
The ultimate highlight: a perfect balance of family fun and quality time for two
Throughout the week, the children visited the kids' club several times, diving into a variety of arts, crafts, and sports activities. While they were busy, we made the most of the campsite's morning lineup, joining the water aerobics and aquabike sessions. We also treated ourselves to a special, private moment at the wellness area, unwinding completely in the spa, sauna, hammam, and jacuzzi. Having these peaceful moments together as a couple was something we deeply appreciated.
We had intentionally chosen a quiet campsite with minimal entertainment so we could truly recharge our batteries, and that is exactly what we found. To make our stay even more special, the town sets off a weekly summer fireworks display that is perfectly visible from the campsite. Being able to admire it all together as a family was an absolute core memory for the kids.
A spectacular water park and playful evenenings
The water park is located at the highest point of the campsite, offering an exceptional panoramic view of the Mediterranean Sea and the surrounding mountains. The setting is truly spectacular. The children absolutely loved racing down the waterslides and the multi-lane slide (pentagliss), as well as playing in the fun lagoon filled with water games. Meanwhile, we highly enjoyed the deeper pool, which allowed us to swim laps in total tranquility.
The children also spent a significant amount of time at the playground located at the lower end of the campsite. Equipped with a giant trampoline, a zipline, and an acrobatic obstacle course, it was the perfect place for them to burn off energy while we quietly enjoyed an aperitif near the petanque court.
The services within the campsite are highly practical. There is a restaurant on-site, which is perfect for those evenings when you simply don't want to get back into the car, as well as a grocery store that is incredibly useful for picking up the small daily essentials we forgot.
An ideal location between quaint harbours and coastal trails
The campsite's location is hard to beat. It sits in a slightly secluded neighborhood, just past the port of Argelès and right before Le Racou—a deeply traditional, historic former fishing village. This spot also serves as the starting point for the coastal path (sentier du littoral).
One day, we followed this path for an hour-long hike all the way to Collioure, a magnificent village on the Côte Vermeille. For the journey back, we decided to take a water taxi straight to the port of Argelès, an exciting boat ride that the children thoroughly enjoyed.
Exploring local flavors, natural coves, and historic castles
On a Wednesday morning, we visited the local market to stock up before heading out for a picnic at one of the most beautiful beaches in the region: the Anse de Paulilles. Armed with the local delicacies we had just purchased at the market, we spent a large part of our day soaking in the beauty of this magnificent protected natural site.
The campsite reception team also recommended a visit to Château de Valmy and its superb grounds. There, we participated in a guided tour complete with a wine tasting, while the children happily enjoyed the wide-open spaces and the exceptional surroundings.
Conclusion: A peaceful sanctuary we will surely return to
In the end, our stay at Camping Le Bois de Valmarie will always be remembered as a true haven of peace nestled in the heart of nature, blessed with spectacular views of the Mediterranean. Between the coastal hikes, the refreshing swims, the quiet moments of relaxation, and our discoveries along the Côte Vermeille, this holiday was absolutely perfect for the entire family. We will return without hesitation.

Not really 5 star, but good location
Review of the campsite
Nice caravan, excellent campsite location.
Rat running around the restaurant - not good when you are eating. Pool has seemingly random closing times and is a bit small but was clean. Some staff excellent and friendly especially the lady who inspected our caravan , BUT.... one in particular that we had to deal with was miserable.
2 of the 4 washing machines faulty and one of the 2 dryers faulty, but were eventually fixed.
Accommodation review - Sirène 3 Confort (3 bedrooms, 37 m²) terrace, air conditioning, TV
Good size, excellent air-con
Not cheap, this is the top end of what I'd normally pay for a camp site, overall a 2 week holiday was costing similar to a half board hotel with flights in Greece.

Lovely quaint little campsite in a lovely area
Review of the campsite
Campsite was small and quiet, pool never got too busy. Enjoyed the night swims a lot and enjoyed how frequent they were. pool was lovely and a good size with a decent selection of slides and a very nice pool bar. Restaurant food was really nice and good quality and not too pricey. Layout of campsite was nice, our pitch was lovely and private.
Little shop was well stocked and the fresh bread and pastry were often still warm. All staff were very friendly. Enjoyed the street of le Racou it was very cute and a short walk to the harbour once we found the shortcut.
Pool area needed some more shade around the sunbeds, no umbrellas made it sometimes unbearable in the heat of the day.
Out pitch was lovely and private but noticed a lot of deckings facing the road and had very little privacy.
Lovely layout, perfect for a family of 2 couples. Beds comfy, accomodation was clean and well equipped- it was nice to have both a kettle and coffee machine.
Aircon worked well
Bathrooms were a good size and showers were large.
Our decking was very big and lots of nice shade and privacy.
Nothing

A lovely clean well maintained site.
Staff very friendly
Air conditioning worked very well for heating and cooling. It was also equipped with everything we needed
The wardrobe in the double bedroom was hard to use due to the side the hinge was on. The same for using the microwave oven. With the door of the cupboard opening one way and the microwave opening the other. Not a big problem but it just felt weird.

Heerlijke camping
Review of the campsite

Review of the campsite
