Enjoyable ten days.
Review of the campsite
We all really enjoyed our stay. The site seems family orientated and felt very safe. Lots of things for our six year-old to do and enough for us adults too. (The Pink Floyd tribute band were great!) The shower in the Lodge was absolutely fine, but the showers in the shower block were really good and readily available, so we often chose to use those instead.
When the hot water heater failed, maintenance responded very promptly.
Good size pitches mean that the site did not feel overcrowded, despite the number of people staying.
Should have brought the grandson's bicycle as, like many other children, he would have enjoyed riding around the site.

About this campsite
Castel Camping Parc de Fierbois
*****
5-star campsite in the Loire Valley, with heated pool and animations, Castel Parc de Fierbois offers mobile homes, chalets, tree houses and camping pitches.
Endless woods and five-star family moments: Our stay at parc de fierbois
Key highlights of our stay at Parc de Fierbois
A campsite immersed in nature, with wide-open spaces, wild forest areas, and a true sense of freedom and calm.
A strong focus on everyone's satisfaction and well-being.
Activities for children of all styles (nature-focused, swimming pool with waterslides…).
A wonderfully located campsite to easily explore the region: hiking or cycling trails, a trip to Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine, and an excursion to Zoo Parc de Beauval…
An ideal place to enjoy quality time as a family while still keeping personal moments for everyone.
Creative kids and outdoor learning deep in the heart of nature
Right from our arrival, we were thoroughly impressed by our accommodation, nestled in the middle of a forest of oak and hornbeam trees. There is an immense amount of space everywhere, including entirely untouched, accessible forest corners left completely in their natural state rather than being commercially exploited. You genuinely get the feeling that the campsite has no boundaries, melting effortlessly into the surrounding nature. Having so much space, fresh air, and absolute quiet made our stay incredibly relaxing.
Out in the woods, our children had the chance to build tree cabins. Thanks to the animation team, they discovered something they had never imagined before: that they could create their own shelters using only what they found in nature.
The kids also learned how to build small insect hotels through a highly pedagogical approach that taught them the vital importance of bugs in the ecosystem. It was both playful and educational. To top it off, we noticed there were very few mosquitoes around, which made our outdoor family time even more pleasant.
Freedom, wellness, and lakeside fitness
While the children were busy, we enjoyed plenty of freedom and true moments just for ourselves. We spent quiet mornings reading in total tranquility or joining the morning yoga classes with the instructor, Christine, to start the day off on the right foot. We also took advantage of the beautiful setting for walks and bike rides, renting bicycles directly on-site. On Friday, we took an 8-kilometer cycling trip to the village of Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine, which timed perfectly with their local market day. We made sure to buy the famous local cheese named after the village—Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine—as well as some traditional Rillettes de Tours. To complement these active moments, we also went for a few jogs around the lake, enjoying a calm, green backdrop that was perfect for recharging our batteries.
High-flying adventures and water fun
Directly within the campsite, we took our eldest child (our youngest was still too little) to tackle the "adult" treetop adventure course (accrobranche). The course starts right from the center of the campsite and features about five ziplines that cut through the woods and fly directly over the lake. It was a fun and sporty activity that created beautiful family memories.
Our late afternoons were frequently spent on the lake itself. Sometimes we rented paddleboards or canoes, and other times we stayed until nightfall playing on the giant water inflatables. On top of that, the kids absolutely adored the campsite's aquatic park, where they would happily spend hours playing. These were beautiful moments where we all played together, mingling with other children and families, often capping off the day with an aperitif on the bar terrace to stretch out the evening.
A magical finale at Beauval Zoo
Before heading home, we all spent a day together at Zoo Parc de Beauval, which is just about a 45-minute drive away. We had the chance to see and admire the pandas, leaving our children completely wide-eyed and amazed. It was a spectacular highlight that perfectly closed out our holiday.
In short, our children completely forgot about their phones, and we were able to share the kind of genuine, simple family moments you always look for during holidays. To experience all of this in a setting with a quality of service worthy of a true 5-star campsite was amply deserved.

Accommodation review - Lake Lodge- 2 bedrooms - 1 bathroom + 1 mini tent
Worked well for us. Mini tent proved more spacious and robust than expected. Large fridge with separate freezer compartment was welcome.
Initially felt the absence of aircon in the Lodge but after a day or so became accustomed and was not a problem.
Double bedroom quite cramped, but we coped.

First time we booked pitch with fridge etc, was definitely worth the extra money. Shower blocks were brilliant.
Again too many rodent holes on the the pitch and even around the grass by the pools. This is not something I’ve come across on other castel campsites that we have stayed at.

Very disappointing, won't be returning
Review of the campsite
Very disappointing stay. Our "Privilege" pitch was beside reception and the pool, making it one of the noisiest areas. Loud evening entertainment until 11pm was followed by excessive noise from the neighbouring pitch until 2am. The same neighbours allowed their two dogs onto our pitch, where they urinated on our chairs, table and pitch. Complaints were made to reception and Castel Head Office, but we have received no acknowledgement. Would not recommend.
Beyond improving, requires management

Weeks stay in a lovely area and site
Review of the campsite
We stayed on a pitch with private sanitation and it was a welcome change and added comfort to our stay. The site needs more of these as many people would use them.
The site was very quite, when we visited in 2025 almost all pitches were taken, this year maybe 50% only but possibly once UK schools break up for summer there will be many more tourist.
This site is lovely it has many good qualities however and this has really made a difference to our future plans.
1) The bar area outside was dirty the tables had left over food on them pizza boxes glasses and the area was dirty and not at all pleasant. 2) There is insufficient staff in the bar, queues for drinks was ridiculous long and staff just unprofessional standing around and just badly run. None of the staff clear or clean the tables so you end up having to take used glasses into the bar to sit at a table. The restaurant was even worse the food was good the staff and cleanliness POOR
It was clean ( shower door leaks a lot ) it was nice and we have no complaints at all.
The pitch was large and we had room to enjoy
As most site the grey waste doesn’t work and our two grey caps on removal were fully blocked.

Review of the campsite
The reception was pleasant and welcoming, the club house was excellent and staff very helpful especially the young lady who managed to get the Formula one on the large tv for us. The bistro and staff were very nice and the supermarket was well stocked, the sanitary facilities were clean and plenty of hot water.
Pitches need to be mowed before guests arrive and some trees/hedges need trimming back
Accommodation review - Grand Confort Pitch - Electricity 16 A - Water - Drainage point -
Good size, fresh water
Grass too long and very coarse and the drainage is too high to allow flow for MH and we couldn't remove the cap on pitch 55, hedges and trees need trimming.

Awful, NOT Les Castel standard
Review of the campsite
Nothing.
Having stayed at many Les Castels, I can confirm this should not be one.
Loud, noisy, butlins style resort.
Kids and adults climbing all over the swimming pool, jumping off things that they shouldn’t! The ‘lake’ is a POND and I would not allow my dog in there, green and stinking.

Review of the campsite
Toilet blocks , Fishing lake and pool facilities excellent. Shop was well stocked but very expensive for daily essentials.
Poorly prepared pitches ( motorhome rutting ) Making good pitches when damaged is essential as surface was dangerous when grass left long . Waste disposal was difficult and distant from pitches

Review of the campsite
We loved staying here, a truly lovely site, very well maintained and a very friendly term to greeet us.
There was a live band on the Saturday evening but we weren’t informed about it- more details on the positives maybe!
Accommodation review - Pitch Avantage - Electricity 16 A - Water - Drainage point
The pitches were very generous in size and the toilets/showers were probably the best we have seen in the last 10 years. Beautiful.
