Camping Oasi – Our Family Experience Between the Sea and the Venetian Lagoon

With our kids aged 2, 5, and 8… and our dog

Camping Oasi: Ideal for a family holiday in Sottomarina

  • Location: Situated in Sottomarina, just a short walk from a long, fully equipped sandy beach and close to the Venetian Lagoon—perfect for combining a beach holiday with exploring the local area.
  • A welcoming, coastal environment with a simple, relaxed vibe that is ideal for families.
  • Facilities: A well-maintained campsite offering essential, practical services for the comfort of both adults and children.
  • Entertainment: Activities and entertainment tailored for the little ones, alongside fun, shared moments for the whole family.
  • The perfect destination to alternate between beach days, relaxing by the pool, and day trips to Chioggia or the islands of the Venetian Lagoon.

The Highlight of our stay at camping Oasi: A perfect day of beach, pool, and entertainment

We arrived at Camping Oasi in Sottomarina with our three children (aged 2, 5, and 8) and our dog, ready for a holiday that was both active and relaxing. We had booked a Superior mobile home, which was spacious and comfortable, complete with a furnished veranda, mosquito nets, and air conditioning. One detail that made a huge difference for us was that beach service was included, meaning an umbrella and sun loungers were already reserved for us on the campsite’s private beach. It was the perfect setup for a large family like ours.

Our mornings usually started with a quiet stroll around the campsite with our dog. He could burn off some energy in the dog agility area, which was well-designed and secure. Afterward, we’d have breakfast on the veranda with fresh bread and pastries bought from the campsite's mini-market.

Fun Activities and Pool

By 10:00 AM, we were already down on the private beach, which is directly accessible from the holiday village. While the two older kids took part in the games organized by the entertainment team—ranging from group activities and games to tasty snack times—we could focus on the youngest, building sandcastles and walking along the shore. My wife often joined the morning stretching sessions on the beach, which was a lovely way to wake up facing the sea.

The beach is wide, well-equipped, and impeccably maintained. It even features dog showers, a detail that truly won us over regarding how pet-friendly the campsite is.

At lunchtime, we often chose to eat at the seafood restaurant located right on the beach, which is one of the campsite's four dining options. The fresh fish came straight from the Chioggia market, and the children always found simple dishes they enjoyed.

In the early afternoon, we would head back to the mobile home for a rest, especially for the youngest. Then, it was off to the pool!

The two new Biodesign pools were truly the heart of the village. The large pool with a whirlpool feature was perfect for relaxing, while the smaller one, with its fountain and slide, was a massive hit with the kids. Built from quartz-colored natural stone, the pools warmed up naturally in the sun and felt just like a tropical beach.

Water games and the dog parade

The afternoon continued with plenty of activities: water games, face painting, creative workshops, and sports tournaments on the football, tennis, and beach volleyball courts.

After dinner, the kids' mini-disco became an unmissable daily event. Then, around 10:00 PM, the main evening entertainment would start: live concerts, comedy acts, musicals put on by the children, and karaoke.

But the most entertaining moment was undoubtedly the dog show. Every owner walked down the runway with their dog, often wearing matching outfits. Laughs and applause were guaranteed! It was a unique event that showed just how dog-friendly the campsite really is.

The day would end just like that—with tired but happy children, and that wonderful feeling of having had a completely full and fulfilling day.

The rest of our stay: Between the sea, the lagoon, and discoveries around Chioggia.

Exploring the venetian Lagoon by bike and boat

On certain days, we decided to explore the Venetian Lagoon. One morning, we rented bikes directly from the campsite and set off toward Chioggia along the scenic cycle path.

From there, we took the vaporetto (water bus) across the lagoon toward the Riviera del Brenta, stopping near the famous Villa Foscari "La Malcontenta", a 16th-century masterpiece of Palladian architecture.

In the afternoon, we continued on to Pellestrina, a quiet, peaceful village where time seems to have stood still, filled with colorful houses, fishing nets, and an authentic atmosphere.

We also made a stop at the Caroman Oasis, a nature reserve that is ideal for spotting lagoon birds. The children were fascinated by the herons and the many other species we saw.

An Unforgettable Trip to Venice

On another day, thanks to the tips from the reception desk—with a special shout-out to Valeria and Greta—we went on an organized boat excursion with Raffaello Navigazione.

The boat departed from the port of Chioggia, cruising along the southern lagoon all the way to St. Mark's Square. Seeing Venice appear from the water, sailing past the Doge's Palace, the Campanile, and the Basilica, is a truly spectacular experience.

After some free time to explore the city on our own, we continued toward the famous islands of the lagoon:

  • Murano: Included a visit to a historic glass factory, where the children were mesmerized by the glassblowing demonstration.
  • Burano: Famous for its brightly colored houses and traditional lace-making.
  • Torcello: A quieter island, home to a cathedral with stunning Byzantine mosaics and a magnificent view of the lagoon from its bell tower.

Conclusion: A complete holiday between sea and lagoon

Our stay at Camping Oasi was exactly what we were looking for as a large family: a perfect blend of the beach, relaxation, activities for the kids, and cultural discoveries.

Between the private beach, the pools, the endless entertainment, and the proximity to Chioggia and Venice, every day offered something new to experience.

It is a welcoming, dynamic, and friendly campsite where everyone—parents, children, and even our dog—found their place and enjoyed a peaceful, unforgettable holiday.
