Review of the campsite

It was great to see some many countries come together , the kids playing together in the evening was heartwarming

Stafff seem overworked, under pressure , and rushed . There should be a donation areas for people to pass along to the next wave of people - toys , sun tents etc

Nice weather

Soccer field should be artificial or similar. Der was so many ants in our mobilhome, it was really sad to see, the outdoor terrasse was horrible, and need to be changed. The worst mobilhome ever

Review of the campsite

Lovely campsite. Pool complex at La Sirene was amazing. Loads of pools and slides even an adutls only pool. Plenty of activities to chose from all day. Hyrox, Crossfit, strength etc for adults. Football, Archery, Basketball etc for kids. They even take them on trips off site to waterpark. Hippocamp a lot quieter and we prefered to stay there with going over the road to La sirene for pool, entertainment. The activites make the site. Would happily return.

Entertainment area unberably hot. Needs aircondining, also not enough seats for everyone. Not being able to wear sliders by pool, the ground was super hot and burning feet.

The perfect campsite for a holiday by the Mediterranean sea

with our children aged 7 and 10

First impressions: safety, freedom, and a clever twin-camping advantage

We set off on holiday with our two children aged 7 and 10 and chose to stay at Camping L’Hippocampe. Right from our arrival, we fell in love with the atmosphere. The area where the mobile homes are located is entirely pedestrianized, which is incredibly reassuring when you travel with young kids. They could move around freely and play in complete safety. To make getting around even easier, we rented bicycles for the week directly from the rental provider located right inside the campsite, allowing us to easily explore the grounds and the surrounding area.

During the booking process, the team had explained a major perk: we would also have full access to all the facilities of Camping La Sirène, the neighboring twin campsite belonging to the same owner. This gave us the absolute best of both worlds—we could enjoy the quieter, pedestrianized environment of L’Hippocampe while simultaneously taking advantage of the endless activities of a large, 5-star club campsite.

Endless sports and poolside paradise

On L’Hippocampe side, the vibe is more peaceful, but the sports facilities are outstanding nonetheless. There are fields and courts for football, tennis, mini-golf, ping-pong, padel, a boules pitch, beach volleyball, archery, beach soccer and basketball. We were pleasantly surprised to find that most of these activities and entertainment options were available even outside high season.

When it came to swimming, we were truly spoiled for choice. L’Hippocampe’s water park is more intimate and very pleasant for winding down, featuring a heated pool and a few waterslides for the kids. However, we also discovered the massive water park at La Sirène, which is spectacular with its numerous pools, age-appropriate zones, and giant waterslides.

Active mornings for kids and parents alike

Our children quickly settled into the kids' club, which is organized by age groups. The counselors were highly skilled and incredibly friendly. Every morning from 10 to 12, they organized a variety of activities, including treasure hunts, Disney and cartoon-themed games, arts and crafts, and sports. The kids made friends fast, and every evening they eagerly anticipated the dance session with the counselors and all the other children.

While the kids were busy, we took the opportunity to join the sports activities led by the campsite coaches: water aerobics, aquabike, and fitness sessions. The campsite even features a dedicated space for weight training, crossfit, and hyrox. We also thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the swimming pool.

High-quality evenings and varied dining options in Argelès, Collioure and beyond

Every single night, the campsite put on high-quality, professional-grade shows, ranging from concerts and musical entertainment to grand musicals. We attended a magic show, as well as a dinner-show where we dined with a perfect view of the stage to watch a magnificent musical inspired by The Lion King. Some nights were more festive, filled with music and a warm, social atmosphere. The entertainment usually wrapped up around 11:30 PM, which was ideal. Since our mobile home was located in L'Hippocampe's quiet pedestrian zone, we could easily return to absolute peace and quiet for the night.

For several days, we barely stepped foot outside the campsite because the services were so complete. There is a grocery store and several restaurants right on site: a Thai restaurant located at L’Hippocampe, the Sirène Beach where you can eat with your toes in the sand facing the pool, and Josette et Claude which serves Italian cuisine. There is truly something to satisfy every craving.

Exploring Argelès, Collioure and beyond

One day, we decided to head to the beach, located about 900 meters from the campsite. Thanks to the secure cycle paths, it was an easy ride on our bikes. Afterward, we continued our ride all the way to Argelès-Plage and its lovely fishing port.

The campsite also features a tourist information and concierge desk, which helped us organize a boat trip. We set out to discover the beautiful coastline stretching between Argelès, Port-Vendres, Collioure, and Cap Béar. We then spent a few hours in the stunning village of Collioure, wandering through its colorful narrow streets and charming harbor before taking the boat back.

On another day, we started the morning at the local market, then headed out for a picnic at one of the most beautiful spots in the region: the Anse de Paulilles. Armed with the local specialties we bought at the market, we spent most of our day on this superb beach, completely surrounded by nature.

 

 

Conclusion: our return is already certain !

In the end, this holiday was absolutely perfect for the entire family. Between the campsite activities, the sports facilities, the evening shows, and the many excursions available around Argelès and Collioure, we never had a single moment of boredom.

We would have gladly stayed longer... and we will definitely return, even outside the high season, since the services and activities remain open almost all year round.
