When to go

Camping is possible all year round, if you plan to go in the winter months it's best to take extra care as many parts could be covered in snow and daylight hours are limited. However, it is the best time of the year if you hope to see the Northern Lights! The main camping season runs from April-May till September when most campsites are open and during the busy summer months, we recommend you book the campsites well ahead of time.

The public transport system in Scandinavia is extensive, reliable and a great way to travel around and take in the scenery. Car hire is available from most airports.

If you are looking for a camping pitch for your tent, caravan or motorhome, there is plenty of choice. If you prefer to leave your camping equipment at home, Scandinavian campsites offer not only fully equipped mobile homes, but also log cabins and even apartments for a stay of a few nights or a few weeks. There are campsites where a variety of activities are organised for children and at times also for adults. Children can learn to fish, go canoeing or build sandcastles on the beach.
