Oleron _The Luminous_ is the second largest French island after Corsica. Oleron is 175 Km² and has an exceptional climate.
In Oleron you can find beautiful sandy beaches, labelled Pavillon Bleu (A Blue Flag award for very good environmental standards) and it is a little haven for nautical sports (windsurfing, kite surfing, sand yachting, canoeing, etc).
Go for a walk, ride a bike or a horse to the heart of the pine forest and the marshes. Don't hesitate to stop for a nature escape in _Les marais aux oiseaux_ (The bird marshes) in Dolus and _Le Port des Salines_ in Grand Village.
Moreover, Oléron has an exceptional historic heritage including the well known Fort Boyard, citadels of Oléron and Brouage castles, churches and some small typical villages with lovely coloured fishermen houses.

Unforgettable holiday on Île d'Oléron Highly recommended!
Review of the campsite
We spent two weeks here full of sunshine! The campsite is in a great location just a stone's throw from beautiful beaches and a town where you can pick up fresh bread at the bakery every morning and easily do your daily shopping at several large supermarkets. On-site, there's a great swimming pool and a rich entertainment program for both children and adults. The evening shows from magicians to DJ parties with lasers and foam were super impressive.
Don't miss the island's stunning sunrises, sunsets, and incredible fresh seafood. Big thanks to the staff for a wonderful holiday—we hope to return!

Great shaded pitch with ample space for all our 2-week tent gear. The private shower, toilet, and fridge were a huge plus. Highly recommended!
Our rented gas BBQ was taken back after two days due to drought and fire risk. We completely understood the safety policy, but it was frustrating to watch other guests continue to use their private gas BBQs every night. Fire bans should apply to everyone equally.
The location is good and the place is clean. The team worked hard to keep on top of the work load. Facilities are good.
The on site bakery is a bit hit and miss, burnt pan o choclate etc one day under cooked the next check what they are giving you before you pay. The place is also over crowded the pool and bar area are very busy. The entertainment such as it is , is for the French, the male entertainer iz constantly smoking and stinks of cigarettes.
The fridge was not working when we arrived and needed to be changed, the kitchen is not very well equiped the glasses, and cups are all small. Loads of missung items like butter knifes, garluc press tec

Friendly staff, functional stay - a few rough edges
Review of the campsite
A nice campsite offering both traditional camping and mobile homes. Facilities across the site were good but fairly basic.
The staff were a real highlight - friendly, helpful, and most spoke at least some English, which made communicating easy. The free bus links to other parts of the island were a great touch, and the supermarket was just a short drive away for anything we needed.
On the downside, WiFi was very poor throughout our stay. We also had to do a significant amount of cleaning before departure, and check-out felt overly strict – staff came to inspect the property very early, despite check-out supposedly being 10am. Activities onsite were limited and all in French
We stayed in a 3-bed bungalow/chalet, which was functional overall despite a rocky start - the gas hob and boiler weren’t working when we arrived. The shower had great water pressure, though the temperature was a bit inconsistent.
The door was badly installed and was difficult to close / lock. See above points re: initial issues and shower temperature. Could do with more plug sockets.

Eventful two weeks with two close friends, followed by my two boys arriving for the second week, and meeting up with very old friends Stuart and Ceri, who recommended the site to me and lots of new friends arriving from Wales.
The pool gets to busy at times so you cannot swim, and not enough shade when pool side.

Attentive and welcoming staff, spotless sanitary block, lovely well maintained pool area, good restaurant, fun atmosphere and attention to detail.
Black tarmac in shoe depository area prior to foot bath got painfully hot, whereas the light surfaces all around the pool were an ideal temperature.
