Imagine opening the shutters in the morning facing the peaks of Haute Tarentaise. You are here at 745m altitude, ideally nestled between the majestic Vanoise National Park and the Beaufortain massif. Welcome to the Eden de la Vanoise *, your base camp in the heart of the Alps.

A Winter & Summer Base Camp Designed for You
We take pride in being much more than a standardized outdoor hotel. We welcome you for two intense seasons: from December 12 to April 10, 2026, and then from May 7 to September 20, 2026.

Winter: Skiing and Vast Spaces Without Constraints
Your adventure starts here. Want to go alpine skiing? Our free shuttles buses take you in just 20 minutes to the ski areas of Les Arcs and La Plagne \(skiing, snowpark, toboggan\). Prefer a northern ambiance? Head for the wild and preserved site of Rosuel, a grand setting at the gates of the National Park where you can snowshoe, enjoy the 43 km of cross-country ski trails, or try biathlon at the foot of the glaciers.

Summer: At the Crossroads of Mythical Passes and the Isère
As the sunny days arrive, the scenery changes but the adrenaline remains. You are only 20 minutes from the gates of Vanoise National Park for unforgettable hikes. Cyclists and motorbike riders will tackle the nearby legends: Cormet de Roselend, Col de l'Iseran, or Petit Saint-Bernard with its breathtaking views of Mont Blanc. Want to cool off? Everything is here: a white water base just across from the campsite \(rafting, kayaking, hydrospeed, electric scooters, or, more calmly, a small lake with a sandy beach and supervised swimming just 4 km away.

Savoie Authenticity and Modern Comfort
Our landscaped and terraced pitches offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains. After the effort, comfort is sacred: dive into our covered and heated swimming pool, open in winter as well as summer. Life at the campsite is also about conviviality: join us at the bar, in the bakery for your croissants, or in the relaxation area over a game of billiards or foosball. In summer, the atmosphere livens up even more with our snack bar, playground, and family activities.

Your Cozy Nest in Tarentaise
Whether you are a wanderer or a family seeking comfort, you will find peace and nature here. The Eden de la Vanoise offers the authentic mountain experience, with everything you need within reach.

Our Family Camping Holiday in Eden

What left us charmed

  • Camping ideally located in the heart of the Haute Tarentaise, perfect as a base camp to easily explore the entire valley.
  • Active family holidays, featuring varied and accessible hikes tailored for sporty children.
  • Invaluable guidance from the owner, Sébastien, offering personalized advice and lesser-known local spots.
  • An authentic discovery of the Savoyard terroir through local cheeses (Beaufort d’alpage, persillé de Tignes).
  • A successful balance between effort and relaxation, with evenings spent around the heated pool and the campsite bar.

A strategic gateway to the High Tarentaise

With our kids aged 11 and 14 year old

Nestled right in the beating heart of the Haute Tarentaise, Camping Eden de la Vanoise serves as the ultimate alpine base camp for an active family holiday. The defining strength of this valley location is its absolute connectivity, offering frictionless access to the region's most iconic alpine landmarks. From the campsite, the monumental Vanoise National Park is reached in a brief twenty-minute drive. For broader horizons, the Italian border lies just one hour away via the breathtaking Col du Petit-Saint-Bernard, opening up the Aosta Valley shortly beyond. Cultural and scenic day trips are effortlessly within range, with the vibrant lakeside city of Annecy accessible in an hour, and the pristine waters of Lac de Tignes reached in about thirty minutes. Additionally, the local hub of Bourg-Saint-Maurice is virtually on the doorstep, situated a mere five minutes down the road.

The entire trajectory of the stay was profoundly enhanced by the attentive hospitality of Sébastien, the campsite owner. Throughout the journey, his constant presence and personalized recommendations allowed the family to unlock authentic, localized experiences. Rather than following standard tourist trails, the itinerary was guided by Sébastien's curated selection of hidden gems and secret addresses, ensuring that every excursion felt uniquely connected to the true heritage of Savoie.

Our most cherised moments: High-altitude trails and family-friendly walks

With an active, sporty family dynamic, world-class hiking was the core priority, prompting Sébastien to suggest a spectacular high-altitude circuit: the Five Lakes Hike (Randonnée des cinq lacs). Departing from Fort de la Platte, situated high above Bourg-Saint-Maurice at an altitude of approximately 2,000 meters, the trailhead sits just twenty minutes away from the campsite. This magnificent mountain route unfolds over a comfortable half-day duration of 4 to 5 hours, guiding walkers past a succession of five pristine high-altitude lakes. As the trail advances into its highest elevations, particularly beyond the final lake, it opens up to majestic, sweeping panoramas of the surrounding alpine peaks. On exceptionally clear days, this vantage point rewards hikers with a striking, unobstructed view across to the Mont Blanc massif.
For a completely different pacing, the legendary GR 5 long-distance trail runs directly alongside the campsite perimeter. This immediate proximity allowed the family to step right onto the trail and enjoy one of its most gentle and accessible valley segments. The stretch connecting Landry to Bourg-Saint-Maurice offered a peaceful, easy-going stroll along the valley floor, creating the perfect, relaxed environment for a multi-generational family walk amidst nature.

Culinary discoveries in alpine cooperatives

Following one of Sébastien's precise recommendations led to a wonderful afternoon in Peisey-Vallandry, visiting a specialized agricultural cooperative store to source an exceptional, authentic Beaufort d’alpage cheese. The visit was rounded out by taking the time to relax and enjoy a coffee on the outdoor terrace, soaking in the mountain air. The regional gastronomic journey continued at the cooperative in Bourg-Saint-Maurice, where the family uncovered the rare and highly distinct Persillé de Tignes. As Sébastien explained, this exceptional cheese is uniquely crafted from a precise blend of cow and goat milk—a highly unusual combination within the traditional Alpine cheese-making landscape. The secret recipe is guarded by only a very small handful of local families who continue its limited production. Best consumed fresh, this rare delicacy is so highly prized that even Michelin-starred restaurants travel directly to the source to secure their provisions.

Moonlit Evenings and Mountain Charms

As daylight faded, the campsite provided the perfect transition from active exploration to deep relaxation. Evenings were defined by a serene night swim in the outdoor pool, beautifully illuminated by the moon overhead. Heated to a luxurious 32 °C, the water remained perfectly inviting during the cooler mountain nights. Because the pool area was uncrowded, the atmosphere was remarkably calm, silent, and peaceful. The evening was seamlessly extended at the campsite bar, where enjoying a delicious cocktail provided a warm, convivial conclusion to the day within a thoroughly relaxed social setting.
This entire experience was framed by the grand, authentic nature of the Savoie region. Every glance outward met with sharp alpine reliefs and high-mountain landscapes that define the area. Adding immensely to this visual charm were the traditional, authentic mountain villages scattered throughout the Haute Tarentaise—such as Peisey-Nancroix, Villaroger, and Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise—each imbuing the journey with an unmistakable, timeless alpine character.

Why we would recommend the Eden experience

What made this stay so special was how effortlessly everything came together. We would recommend Camping Eden de la Vanoise to any active family simply because it gets the balance right: it serves as a perfectly central base for incredible high-altitude hikes, while giving you the chance to unwind in a genuinely quiet, uncrowded pool at the end of the day. Having a host like Sébastien, who points you toward rare local cheeses and secret trails instead of the usual tourist spots, adds a personal, authentic touch you just don't get everywhere. It’s an easy place to love, where the scenery is beautiful, the mountain villages are charming, and the atmosphere lets you truly disconnect.
